Rooted in Christ

God came down into this world in Jesus Christ to free us from sin and death once and for all. We live anew in his crucified and risen body abiding in his steadfast love, nourished by his grace, and strengthened by his hope.

"So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away;

see, everything has become new!

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NRSV)

Growing in Faith

"We cannot by our own understanding or strength believe in Christ Jesus or come to him, but instead the Holy Spirit has called us through the gospel, enlightened us with his gifts, made us holy and kept us in the true faith." ~ Martin Luther in The Small Catechism

"For by grace we have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God.

Ephesians 2:8 (NRSV)

Bearing Good Fruit

As Matthew's gospel reminds us, "every good tree bears good fruit." (Matt. 7:17 NRSV) Abiding in Christ, one bears the fruits of the spirit: "love, joy peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." (Gal. 5:22 NRSV). In all we are and do in Christ, we bear this fruit in service to the ones beside us.
